Jasper Johns Winter (ULAE 248), 1989, lithograph on paper, is an image from the Artist's important Seasons series, an autobiographical reflection of the Artist’s Life. Jasper Johns "assembled artifacts and autobiographical imagery from his career to narrate the cycles of life. Inspired by Pablo Picasso's painting The Shadow, 1953, Jasper Johns Winter (ULAE 248), 1989, incorporates the "self-portrait" shadow, which also recurs in each of Jasper Johns Seasons encaustic on canvas paintings, Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall.
