Jasper Johns Untitled I ULAE 171, 1976 comparisonThe above is a side-by-side comparison of 2 different examples of the same Jasper Johns Untitled I (ULAE 171), 1976, each from the same signed and numbered limited edition of 55 impressions. On the left, an impression, described in good condition, but obviously faded sold for $25,000. On the right, a Pristine impression carefully stored for three decades, available from Joseph K. Levene Fine Art, Ltd. The comparison demonstrates the advantage of a Pristine impression which looks as good today as it did when the Jasper Johns Untitled I was signed in 1976. You can immediately see the colors are faded, making the impression sold at Los Angeles Modern Auctions less desirable. Based on the published lot description and condition report, the Buyer of the Los Angeles Modern Auctions Jasper Johns Untitled I, was misled since the colors are clearly faded.
