Damien Hirst Bromobenzotrifluoride

Damien Hirst Pharmaceutical Spot Paintings

Damien Hirst Bromobenzotrifluoride, 2010, is part of the series of color woodcuts, a continuation of the Artist's Spots, or Pharmaceutical Paintings; the titles derive from chemicals used by the pharmaceutical industry.

By using the woodcut technique, Damien Hirst achieves exuberant colors via individual richly inked spots in a size that matches what the Aritst also created on canvas. The Damien Hirst exhibition of The Complete Spot Paintings 1986-2011 was shown at 11 International galleries prior to the 2012 Tate Modern Retrospective from April 4 - September 9, 2012.
